Action in the Hennepin County District Court arising out of an explosion allegedly resulting from the negligence of defendants,
Minneapolis Gas Company, Barbarossa and Sons, Inc., and L. Eugene Delaney and another, individually and d.b.a. Edina Excavating
Company. Plaintiff Sandra Larsen sought damages for her personal injuries; plaintiff Erling Larsen as father and natural guardian
of Steven Larsen, a minor, sought damages for personal injuries of said minor and individually he sought consequential damages.
Defendant gas company filed a third-party complaint against said Barbarossa company. The case was tried before Stanley D.
Kane, Judge, and a jury. On the basis of a special verdict, the court ordered judgment for Erling Larsen for $125,000, for
Sandra Larsen for $300,000, and for Steven Larsen for $150,000 against all of the defendants. The court also found that defendant
gas company was entitled to recover from the excavating company one-half of all sums paid pursuant to the judgment, and that
defendant Barbarossa was entitled to recover from the other defendants all sums paid pursuant to the judgment. Defendant gas
company appealed from an order denying its alternative motion for a new trial on all issues or for a new trial on the issue
